Mechanical Design Engineer – Illumitex

Position Summary: 

Illumitex is seeking a self-motivated, hands-on mechanical design engineer to drive innovation and design industry leading horticulture LED lighting products. Individual will work within cross functional groups to work on new concepts as well as to develop the next generation horticulture lighting solutions. A successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver that is able to work around technical obstacles and implement practical solutions.

 

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Create mechanical drawings for components and assemblies
  • Build bench level prototypes for proof of concept and design validation
  • Basic wiring diagrams
  • Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods
  • Generate line drawings for cut sheets
  • Create Bills of Materials
  • Provide all levels of support for the Manufacturing Department
  • Track revisions and documents to assure they are up-to-date
  • Perform first article inspections
  • Execute general Engineering projects as assigned by the supervisor

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2+ years of detailed, hands on mechanical design experience.
  • Design experience working 3D modeling software, Solidworks 2016
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Works efficiently and effectively in a team environment
  • Familiar with manufacturing technologies and DFM
  • Skilled in component and material choices and specification, including excellent supplier relations.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple development projects simultaneously.
  • Creativity and self-motivation to solve unique and complex technical problems
  • The following would be a plus, but are not required:
    • LED Lighting
    • Thermal Analysis
    • CNC machining and machine shop experience
