LRC Announces 3D Printing Courses

LRC Offers Summer Courses in 3D Printing and Photometry for Lighting Professionals

The Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will offer two valuable professional courses this summer designed to equip lighting experts with high-demand technical skills.

3D Printing for Lighting – Online Course
Running from 9 July to 6 August, 2025, this five-session course meets Wednesdays from 12:00 to 2:15 PM ET. The course explores additive manufacturing’s role in lighting. Participants will learn about 3D-printed optics, heat sinks, thermal design, and CAD modeling. They’ll also follow real-world examples, from concept to final prototype, guided live by LRC instructors.

Photometry Institute – In-Person Training
Hosted at the LRC in Troy, NY, this two-day course runs 18–19 August, 2025. It covers the essentials of photometric testing for solid-state lighting. Topics include optical, electrical, color, and flicker performance. The course is ideal for engineers, QA specialists, and lighting designers who want a deeper understanding of testing methods and industry standards.

Why Attend?
Lighting professionals are navigating rapid change—from advanced optics to evolving energy codes. These LRC programs provide hands-on, applicable training to stay ahead. Learning from a trusted institution like LRC helps participants strengthen their expertise and boost their career development.
