A.L.P. Sells Thermoforming Business and Engages in OEM Sales Representation Agreement with RLR Industries, Inc.

February 20, 2019  (Niles, IL) -A.L.P. Lighting Components, a leading global manufacturer of Lighting components and kits, announced today that it has sold its thermoforming business to Mableton, GA-based RLR Industries, Inc.  In conjunction with RLR’s sales management, the Bill Brown Sales Company (BBS) will represent RLR’s product lines in the Continental United States (excluding flat sheet sales) to the lighting OEM marketplace.

Customers located inclusive and northeast of Washington, DC, and in Eastern Canada will continue to be serviced by RLR’s existing sales representation and structure.

This sale supports A.L.P.’s manufacturing focus on injection molding, compression molding and metal fabrication. The transaction culminates organizational changes that began with A.L.P.’s sale of its extrusion business in late 2018 and allows the company to close its Olive Branch, Mississippi plant. Once this process is complete, no further business changes or sales are being contemplated.

The A.L.P./BBS team has worked closely with RLR for decades, in fact, previously BBS represented RLR for 30 years. “We have always had a close personal relationship with RLR and the utmost respect for their manufacturing capabilities,” explains Steve Brown, CEO of A.L.P.  “We are pleased to be once again formally aligned with this outstanding organization and team,” Brown adds.

“We are excited for the new product development potential that we can offer the Lighting OEM industry with this transaction and in working with BBS on our overall market approach on existing business and new product developments”, explained RLR’s V.P. of Operations, Andrew Lewis, and Stewart Lewis, RLR’s V.P. of Sales & Product Development.

This agreement augments the BBS product portfolio, expanding their ability to offer complete solutions to the lighting community.  A.L.P. molding plants in both Dickson, TN and Charlevoix, MI are slated for expansion during calendar 2019.  The LexaLite® brand will also place a new focus on proprietary edgelit panels and a line of silicone TIR optics for a range of applications.  A.L.P. is also adding additional large steel stamping equipment for its metals product area.

A transition plan for sales and operations is in place to ensure a smooth transfer for A.L.P. customers.
