June 10, 2020 — Since the start of the pandemic stateside, USAI Lighting has been encouraging their team and customers to do good while doing business. To-date, USAI has helped provide close to 100,000 meals for children and families facing food insecurity across the U.S.
For every virtual meeting USAI hosts, they purchase a $15 GrubHub gift card for their guests and match the value with a donation to Feeding America in their guests’ names. More than 600 lighting designers, architects, interior designers and engineers have participated in USAI’s effort to date, with additional meetings and donations scheduled well after states reopen. Due to the success of the program, USAI plans to continue it for months and possibly years to come.
USAI has found this philanthropic effort extraordinarily gratifying, especially because they are able to engage both their team and their customers in the endeavor. This has allowed the USAI team to stay creative in their work while also giving back to their communities during this unprecedented time. As unequaled numbers of businesses and families across the country continue to struggle, it gives the USAI team an added morale boost to tangibly see how their work can do a lot of good for people greatly impacted by the pandemic.
Feeding America is a nationwide nonprofit consisting of more than 200 food banks that feed more than 46 million people through food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other community-based agencies.
