Mark McClear named new Chief Operating Officer at BIOS

Carlsbad, CA—BIOS is proud to welcome LED industry veteran Mark McClear as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). McClear will oversee business operations and development of both Human and Horticulture divisions and report to CEO Sean Tegart.

McClear joins the BIOS team with over 20 years of experience across multiple industries, including extensive experience in the LED and lighting sector. In his most recent role as President of the North and South American markets for Seoul Semiconductor, McClear’s oversight of the company’s sales, marketing and engineering services yielded a 37% year-over-year growth rate. During his ten-year tenure at leading LED manufacturer Cree, Inc., McClear grew the business from a four-employee operation to a global $800 million business.

McClear has led similar growth success in semiconductor and solid-state technologies during terms at Texas Instruments, Praxair, Dow Chemical and Phononic. He has also successfully secured 20 issued and published U.S. patents in electronics, LED and solid-state lighting.
