Product Development Engineer — American Lighting

Job Description:
American Lighting is seeking an experienced Product Development Engineer to add to our team.  This position will work closely with the Product Management, Marketing and Sales Teams to develop cutting-edge products for multiple sales divisions within the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Develop design guidelines and best practices to share with global team thereby driving consistency and quality within the organization
  • Lead product design reviews / extensive testing to insure and/or improve design quality.
  • Write up and photographically document product reviews
  • Maintain and improve upon all product development documentation
  • Create detailed, yet easily interpreted quality control inspection plans
  • Work in collaboration with our quality control inspection team / aid in routine production inspections
  • Constant communication and management of global vendors
  • Detailed review of multiple weekly production inspection reports
  • Ensure products meet the given specifications of UL, ETL, DLC, Energy Star, RoHs
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering and/or product design
  • Electrical design or electrical engineering experience is a plus
  • Prior experience working with an LED Lighting Manufacturer
  • of working with 3-5 years of experience as a product development / quality control engineer
  • Thorough understanding of the Product Development Lifecycle
  • Lighting technology experience with demonstrated capabilities working in a manufacturing environment and implementing new products into production
  • Previous experience with sheet metal bending, plastic injection and aluminum die-cast design and manufacturing processes
  • Expert knowledge of CAD Software. SolidWorks is preferred
  • Computer skills – Outlook, Excel, Internet Research, and PowerPoint
