Full Job Description:

Section I. General Overview & Reporting:

The Product Manager is responsible for taking a product from the concept stage through to the final delivery/sales stage. This includes partnering with the engineering team, R&D, operations, shipping, marketing, and sales, as well as competitive industry analysis, and soliciting customer input. This position reports to the CEO.

Section II. Duties & Areas of Responsibility:

The primary duties of the Product Manager consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop new product feature and functionality, in partnership with Engineering
  • Identify customer needs and market requirements
  • Gather and analyze competitive intelligence
  • Provide customer use and case examples to engineering
  • Act as the primary bridge between customer feedback/requirements, and R&D
  • Define product features, functions, and prototype development
  • Establish financial goals, timelines and key milestones
  • Lead the technical integration of electrical and mechanical components
  • Collaborate with R&D to define product release requirements
  • Partner with marketing, communications, and sales personnel to define go-to-market strategy, and ensure understanding of product positioning, key benefits, and target customer
  • Develop pricing strategy
  • Create strategic marketing plans, and act as marketing’s primary advocate on cross functional development teams
  • Work with manufacturing and operations to define product ordering/shipping, requirements, and product release schedule
  • Partner with marketing and sales teams to develop launch plans and customer-facing communications strategies
  • Identify and execute development roadmap to grow product sales
  • Serve as internal and external champion for each product offering, working closely with the sales channel and key customers
  • Other duties, as assigned

Section III: Necessary Skills and Attributes:

  • Architectural lighting industry experience required
  • 3+ years experience in product management or product marketing
  • Proven experience taking new technology-inspired market opportunities and articulating them in the form of product plans, desired value proposition, and potential solution areas
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working with engineering teams to clearly define and deliver the right solutions to market at the right time
  • Excellent interpersonal, and collaborative skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-­‐technical audience
  • Confident public speaking skills
  • Professional presence
  • Proven leadership role in driving initiatives and working collaboratively across organizations
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently, and in team settings
  • Team player. Strong drive. Self-­‐starter
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Ability to travel  (estimated to be 10% – 20%)
  • Ability to have and maintain a credit card for business-related (reimbursable) expenses

Section IV: Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity required to read computer screens, written documents, inspect materials, products, etc.
  • Must be able to work sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and in squatting position.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity required for computer work, to handle materials, supplies, etc.
  • Must have the ability to work in a non-climate controlled plant/warehouse environment (including high/low temperatures, dust, humidity, etc.).
  • Ability to travel independently, without assistance
