Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer (Lighting Experience)

As a proud advocate for manufacturing in the U.S.A., Kenall has become a champion in developing advanced lighting solutions, systems and controls for high abuse, transportation, security detention, and sealed enclosure for healthcare, cleanroom, containment and food processing environments. We currently have an opportunity available for a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer (Lighting Experience).

As a member of Kenall’s product design and development engineering team, this individual will be responsible for the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop fixtures for existing product lines
  • Create drawings for production release ensuring designs pass all requirements
  • Develop specifications sheets
  • Modify existing products per customer requirements or based on continuous improvement
  • Log requests using Workfront project management system
  • Work with testing and compliance team to develop product samples
  • Mentor junior design engineers
  • Lead engineering design reviews
  • Key interface with product development, quality and operations staff

QUALIFCATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred
  • 6+ years practical experience in product design and development in the Lighting industry
  • Proficient using 3D CAD solid modeling software; SolidWorks and Inventor
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes including injection molding, die-casting, extrusion and thermoforming
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication as well as polycarbonate, acrylic and aluminum
  • Able to design/build prototypes
  • In addition to excellent engineering design skills, demonstrated top grade aesthetic capabilities desired
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Resourceful, highly organized while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy; Highly dependable, self-motivated and directed
  • Professional in appearance and attitude and able to work with customers, vendors and colleagues on all levels
  • Flexible, able to work within a team environment; managing multiple projects and tasks at the same time
