Electrical Engineer–Zumtobel

Zumtobel is growing its product development team and has an opening for an Electrical Engineer, reporting to the VP, Engineering.  The successful candidate will have the knowledge, experience, and creativity to design the next wave of state-of-the-art lighting products. 

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Design and bring to production power supplies, drivers,  and control circuits that meet stated targets for performance, cost,  and functionality of luminaire products (LED, Halogen, Fluorescent, Metal Halide).
  • Design embedded control circuits to realize sensory feedback, control,  and communications to external networks.
  • Have a working knowledge of and an ability to design to all required safety    and agency standards and approvals (UL, CSA, CE, FCC, CISPR, etc.).
  • Utilize the Altium suite of applications to capture schematics, simulate circuits, and design and modify printed circuit boards.
  • Interface with and manage consultant – printed circuit board designers.
  • Interface with, validate, and manage contract manufacturers for printed circuit board assembly.
  • Supervise electronics/electromechanical technician(s) to assemble and test prototypes. 
  • Create complete printed circuit board assembly documentation packages. 
  • Work with product management to help define achievable performance, cost, and functionality targets.
  • Actively maintain knowledge of new developments and state-of-the-art in ballast design.
  • Attend trade show and industry events to maintain knowledge base and understand the state-of –   the – art in competitive products.
  • Work with client services and field service personnel to address client/field issues. 

 EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT 

  • BSEE/MSEE in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college
  • Applicable experience in analog/digital power management
  • Experience designing and programming embedded microprocessor control
  • Experience designing to all required safety and agency standards (UL, CSA,  CE, FCC, CISPR, etc.).
