Specification Sales Manager (Specialty) – Acuity Brands Lighting

Requirements :
- 6 to 8 years experience plus Bachelors Degree in relevant field.
- Lighting Certification Preferred.
- Knowledge of Fluorescent, LED and OLED light sources
- Knowledge of architectural interior lighting design and landscape lighting a plus
- Knowledge of the channel to market for lighting fixtures and the construction and renovation process is desirable.
- Results seeking, self motivated, solutions and sales orientated.
- Interface well with customers.
- Knowledge of light sources and optics, training in illumination, either through an accredited university program, industry training from some of the major manufacturers, or by Illuminating Engineering Society courses.
- Computer and moderate math skills required.
- Successfully deliver highly professional quality presentations to discerning audiences.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., efficiently identify and handle objects, and stand for extended periods of time.
Description
Promote assigned products – Peerless and Mark Indoor Architectural Grade LED and Fluorescent Lighting fixtures, Hydrel architectural and landscape lighting products, and Acuity Healthcare lighting products – to the specification community including architects, engineers, lighting designers, interior designers and others. Educate the specifiers and the sales agency personnel, assist in getting specifications written and follow from written specifications all the way to receipt of the order. Identify and target key lighting specification influences by activity in various associations and educational opportunities. Participate in activities that will help get more products specified and sold in assigned market.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Introducing and demonstrating new products to specifiers. Obtain Lighting Specifications through development of strong specifiers relationships. Achieved by customer visits, customer contact through phone and email and customer interaction. Respond to queries and questions from customer base in timely manner. Promote product in the marketplace. Complete product presentations, provide samples for approval.
- Manage lighting specification business in such a way as to maximize the potential of an order. This is achieved by controlling the project through to the sale, defending the specification, negotiating and persuading with individuals in the sales channel. Monitor sales developments through tracking software and through your own internal team of quotations managers and customer support.
- Training of inside staff at agency. Quotes, customer service personnel, management, projects people all have the opportunity to recommend assigned product lines. Goal is to have them make substitutions on projects or when working at the distributor and contractor level.
- Responsible for interacting with product management in collaborating with the development, deployment and implementation of Sales/Marketing strategies and long-range plans and then projecting those plans to the marketplace.
- Assist in the overall marketing efforts of product lines by attending product development meetings with engineering. Goal is to get everyone to be on the same page and to create better products to fill customer requirements. Goal is also to become aware of trends in technology and to have good relationships with the specifiers to be able to start a new trend rather than to be a follower.
- Responsible for serving in the role of problem solver and resolver as it relates to all aspects of sales development, pre-order phase, active order phase and post-sales issue resolution. Manages priorities, seeks the value of a task in relationship to others, then completes the most important thing first.
- Monitor new sales and overall sales performance of sales agencies in territory. Work with agencies to improve sales and profit goals. Resolve job problems between agency, contractor, specifiers and in-house staff.
