Role and Responsibilities

Acuity Brands Lighting, the leader in indoor and outdoor lighting solutions for more than a century is seeking an experienced and successful inside sales specialist.

Job Description:  Responsible for providing sales support to outside field sellers, Catalog customer account managers and end users. Requires technical & product expertise for product and application assistance, training, building proposals, generating  ROIs, solution recommendations and post sales support.

Requirements :       

  • High School diploma or GED. Technical or Associates Degree in Business, Marketing, Management or Engineering or equivalent experience in these areas preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years experience required
  • Computer applications – Microsoft office, OMS/ Agile, Internet, Visual (design software) etc.
  • Proficient knowledge of product lines. Working knowledge of lamps and ballasts.
  • Understanding of lighting, photometry, applications, electrical and mechanical components.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Key Tasks & Responsibility % of Time

  • Assist customers, both internal and external with technical and product inquiries received via phone call, email or fax.  Inquiries identified as, but not limited to, product validation, application assistance, technical data, product functionality, replacement parts, and job/field related issues.  Serve as frontline contact for sales opportunities.   35%
  • Support outside sales team and customers in the daily operational aspects of Catalog accounts to include pre-qualification of opportunities, performing ROIs, visual layouts, BOM generation and post sales support. 25%
  • Sales territory coverage for remote areas / open positions and serve as back up for ESMs in field if conflicts arise but opportunity warrants a site visit. 10%
  • Conduct training sessions w/ Catalog account managers and customers to drive brand awareness and impact sales 15%
  • Utilize ABS tools to increase sales force effectiveness and improve overall ABL sales results and customer experience. 15%
