GE Lighting Lays Off 50+

EXCLUSIVE:

EdisonReport can confirm that GE Lighting has laid off 50+ people globally.  We confirmed this layoff with current and soon-to-be-former employees.    In addition, we received the following statement from Nela Park:  “In the course of conducting business, GE Lighting continually reviews and evaluates its operations on a regular and global basis.  This includes analysis of costs to ensure operations are in line with business performance and market environments.  Due to softness in markets and a number of other external factors, GE Lighting has announced to employees it has become necessary to reduce global employment and has communicated this to those impacted. The action will help to more closely match this business to our evolving customer needs.”

We were told that affected employees had access to the GE Network of jobs in an effort to match people with job opportunities within different divisions of GE.    We were not given information as to the break down of field positions vs Nela Park positions, nor were we give a breakdown of sales positions vs. non-sales positions.
