Litecontrol is looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer to join our Product Innovation team and play a lead role the development efforts of standard new products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead development and/or investigative projects from initialization through commercial release including: contributing to the scope definition, identifying and exploring specific project challenges/objectives, estimating project timelines, coordinate team project work, and coordinating with Manufacturing/Manufacturing Engineering through product release

Conceptualize concepts, create computer models and build physical prototypes of products in order to meet the needs of internal and external customers.

Utilize expertise in manufacturing (sheet metal punching/forming, attachment, assembly, etc.) and prototyping to ensure manufacturability of new products.

Develop multiple viable solutions to challenges that meet the objectives; investigate and quantify all tradeoffs; and lead the process into determining the best course of action.

Complete documentation and coordination (drawings, specifications, memos, etc.) required for prototyping and transition to Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain.

Elicit feedback on concepts and general information that can be used to improve new products by interacting with external customers, sales representatives, Product Managers, Sales Managers and other internal departments.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Electro-Mechanical/Mechanical/Product Engineering/Industrial Design, or equivalent degree, with a minimum of five years practical experience AND a minimum of three years of project management, preferably within the Lighting Industry. The position also requires a strong technical background with a working knowledge of sheet metal design, solid modeling, and manufacturing processes/documentation, and electrical/electronic systems. Good communication and presentation skills are also needed.
