The bright lights of Las Vegas have always ensured a steady flow of tourist dollars to the world’s gambling capital. But by switching to energy efficient street lights the city is now raking in a $2m annual jackpot.
A $20.8m programme to install 42,000 new LED street lights earlier this year has halved the city’s electricity bill for street lighting and reduced maintenance costs because they last up to three times longer, according to news website Energy Manager Today.
