Product Manager, LED Lamps–Samsung

Responsible for executing the launch of new LED Lamp portfolio for the US market. The position is responsible for complete product management of the LED Lamp business, and identifying new areas of growth, including but not limited to Smart lighting (primarily B2C).

The B2C Product Manager has responsibility for supporting the B2C business in existing retail channels and working with Account Managers, as well as developing new retail customers.  The B2B Product Manager has responsibility for supporting the B2B business in the developing distribution channel and working with Regional Sales Managers, as well as developing new distribution partners and end-users. 

The role will require managing monthly/weekly sales target, product pricing strategy, lineup strategy, promotion planning, inventory and spending/cost analysis. The person will need to travel to retailers/distributors/end-users to conduct face to face meetings giving product presentations. To prepare for the internal and external meetings, the person will need to develop presentation decks and provide insights on the business by analyzing consumer behaviors, competitor movements and government requirements. The Product Managers will support the Marketing Director in their responsibility for the daily operation of the LED lighting business.

Key metrics include sales, spend-to-budget, profitability & mix, market share, forecast accuracy and inventory management.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive aggressive sales and profitability goals by ensuring factory requirements are well executed
  • Be the channel category expert and knowledge source of industry trends (size and features), product specifications, competition moves, pricing, etc.
  • Ultimately responsible for executing on all US product launches and go-to-market plans including development of product data sheets and other marketing support materials.
  • Responsible for coordinating new product forecasting and inventory management.
  • Support the generation of marketing and training materials required for channel to be successful
  • Drive local line-up logics and support negotiations with global headquarters
  • Analyze competitive market to identify and execute on local pricing strategies
  • Analyze, identify, propose and defend opportunities for new product development
  • Build and present business cases for line-up logics and new product development
  • Develop, implement and share best practices within Department.

  • Track sales performance versus budget and monitor pricing and profitability against budget and market.
  • Provide guidance to GBM for portfolio development in terms of products, specifications and pricing that enable Samsung to grow market share.
  • Deliver product innovation on-time as per budget schedule and provide support materials required for sales team to successfully sell-in
  • Manage stock to established guidelines for LED Lighting, minimizing aged inventory.
  • Identify and develop strong communication tools that support portfolio positioning relative to competition.
  • Establish strong relationships to GBM to secure required product portfolio.
  • Track competitive pricing trends in market to insure we are aligned with our strategy
  • Monitor market to generate strongest portfolio given our technical capability
  • Generate business evidence for innovation based on market fundamentals
  • Work effectively with SEA HA and SECA LED Lighting to maximize Samsung potential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Engineering
  • 5-10 years of Product/Brand Management experience in lighting industry, preferably with LEDs
  • Strong communication skills; ability to communicate with people at all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
  • Strong analytical and financial skills to assess and recommend portfolio changes
  • Microsoft Office Skills, SAP, GSBN
