Kanepi Innovations to be featured presentation at LightFair 2014. Topic Including GM Spring Hill $2 Million/Year Energy Savings

Kanepi Innovations will be a featured presentation during LightFair 2014. Recently installed lighting and energy controls at General Motors’ Spring Hill, TN facility are expected to save an estimated $2 million in energy costs.

GRAND HAVEN, MI, – November 20, 2013 – Starting in the Spring of 2012, General Motors set out to replace all high-bay  light fixtures and add Kanepi Wireless Controls to each. Throughout several phases, the project would span throughout the 6.9 million ft2, 2,100 acre facility in Spring Hill, Tennessee. At the extent of phase 1, installation was completed in three sections of the Spring Hill campus, installed light fixtures & controls exceeded 3,300, and energy savings were estimated at$800,000 per year.

As the project currently nears completion, with nearly 7,000 Kanepi controlled fixtures installed and utilized throughout the entirety of the massive facility, new reports estimate energy savings will be nearing $2 million annually. The project is now expected to provide over $25 million in energy savings over the next 15 years.

Through use of Kanepi Wireless Controls, General Motors has the ability to schedule, manage, and monitor the use of electrical devices within the facility to ensure electrical energy is only consumed when and where necessary.  The new energy-efficient Light Corporation high bay fixtures are now optimized to specific tasks, areas, and schedules to correspond with their specific facility.

The featured case study presentation will be given in the Technologies and Tools Track at LightFair International 2014 Conference in Las Vegas and will cover General Motor’s use of Kanepi Wireless Controls to achieve significant energy savings.
