Design Engineer Job Description and Profile
LF Illumination, a leading manufacturer of commercial grade interior architectural lighting, needs the services of a design engineer to create and modify design and manufacturing specifications within a team of seasoned lighting professionals. The successful candidate is accurate and organized with 8 – 10 years experience in creating fabrication and submittal drawings. This position requires knowledge in all methods of fabrication and the ability to convey this information in Solidworks. Candidate shall have excellent communication and organizational skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assume a lead or team position for all aspects of product design, development and launch.
• Be able to work in a fast paced, detail oriented environment.
• Assist in providing bill of materials, engineering data, and component drawings.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Expert knowledge of SolidWorks as well as MSOffice and MRP software
• Proficiency in creating and maintaining product design models and drawings
• Previous experience working as a product designer in a manufacturing environment
• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes including Extrusion, Die-Casting, Sheet Metal and Machining
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills including document control
• Attention to minute details and a commitment to quality
DESIRED SKILLS
• Thorough knowledge of lighting sources and auxiliary control gear
• Experience with design for LED sources including thermal, electrical and optical components
EDUCATION
• BS degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, lighting design or product architecture design
• Minimum experience of 5 years in the field of engineering for a manufacturing environment
