MaxLite, a leader in energy-efficient lighting, is looking for a qualified, experienced Design Engineer to join our team as Senior Engineer and Team Lead. Our Engineering Department is responsible for developing and testing new and existing lighting products to meet industry and market demands. This position reports to the Director of Engineering.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and validate mechanical and electromechanical lighting systems and products by designing and conducting research; applying principles of mechanics, electronic circuitry, power supply design, thermodynamics heat transfer, materials, and controls
- Determine design and manufacturability of mechanical, electrical, optical, and electromechanical components and products according to industry research and requirements
- Design, modify, fabricate, and assemble key optical and mechanical components for lighting fixtures to meet market requirements
- Prepare and oversee the creation of mechanical print, product assembly drawings and revisions
- Confirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and properties
- Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; test finished product and system capabilities; confirm fabrication, assembly, and installation processes
- Interface with suppliers, senior management, and related departments in communication of design opportunities, features, QC concerns, etc.
- Report progress in a rapid prototyping and product introduction environment
Required Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of experience in design engineering of lighting products and manufacturing with prior supervisory experience
- “Do what it takes attitude” to meet objectives and deadlines
- Accountable, intellectually flexible, open minded, team player, competitive, problem solver, analytical, interpersonal and egoless
- 4-year degree: B.S.E.E. (preferred), B.S.M.E., or B.S.C.E., with concentrations in SMPS, optics, and sensors
- Knowledge of lighting industry manufacturing requirements, lighting applications and installation
- Working knowledge of UL, ETL, NEMA, and field building codes
- CAD, CAM, circuit layout, solid modeling, FEA, and mechanical drafting proficiency desired
- MS Office suite proficient
