Position Description:

The Director of Operations will be responsible for all operational departments within CS Illumination, including Project Management, Purchasing, Warehouse/Logistics, Customer Service, and Pricing.  The Director of Operations will function as the lead strategist, decision maker, and sponsor for all process and procedure implementations focused on efficiencies, cost savings, and sustainable operations. Additional duties will include staffing decisions to maximize customer service, role development, coaching, and mentoring of the operations team members.  Secondary duties will include supporting the implementation of innovations and marketing ideas presented by the CEO and Owners of CS Illumination. The position will report directly to the CEO/President/Owners.

Direct Responsibilities:

  • Manages organization operations by directing coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies of the firm as directed by the CEO.
  • Manages day to day operations from customer quotes, to pricing, to proposal, to project management and finally purchasing and warehouse operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring cost effective operations and infrastructure are in place to support functional areas and shared services among team members.
  • Ensures the organization is well positioned in a rapidly evolving and competitive environment via engaging and supporting ongoing business transformation and organizational change.
  • In conjunction with the CEO and Owners this position identifies and leads new business development opportunities focused on operational efficiencies and generation of sustainable profitability.
  • Ensures and manages highly productive vendor and customer relationships and solidifies corporate alliance endeavors that benefit of the organization.
  • Drive implementation of methods required to achieve cost targets, improve quality, ensure high level of return on investment for capital, and improve the distribution and supply chain environment
  • Provide management with accurate and timely reports on monthly and quarterly basis, including financial performance, production metrics, key performance indicators, and staffing assessments.
  • Attracts, develop and retain world-class talent for all operational areas within the company
  • Create and maintain a culture of accountability and ensure adequate training of all employees as required by their field of expertise

 Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Business or Economics supported by operational field experience in a distribution related field.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree supported by experience with functional management.
  • 7+ years of experience in high-volume environment with minimum 3-5 years P&L accountability >$10M revenue from material sales or services provided/ sold to end users either directly or through supply chain distribution.
  • Achievement of operations Director level or higher in past work experience
  • Track record of operational improvement through implementation of management objectives and team building and process improvements
  • Must have highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide concise monthly business summaries, deliver presentations to all levels of senior management to end users and vendor partners
  • Ability to develop high levels of credibility and positive professional working relationships with team members, peers, and upper management

  • Educates all team members in furthering their business acumen and leadership capabilities to further enhance efficiencies, reporting, and accuracy
  • Creates a thorough review process for key performance indicators by operational department.
  • Creates and maintains executive metric reporting, detailing the vital factors of the firm to insure operational sustainability and future growth
  • Develops a program focused on obtaining and maintaining key corporate alliances with both supply chain and operational expense vendors

Salary and Compensation Program

  1. The DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS will be a full time position located in Vista, CA.  with the following salary position with an annual base salary as detailed below
    1. CY 2014 – $
    2. CY 2015 – $ (to be determined)
    3. CY 2016 – $ (to be determined)
    4. Medical and Dental insurance for the employee and his/her family within the current carrier’s PPO plan. 
    5. Monthly car allowance of $xx/month direct payroll deposit taxable as appropriate.
    6. Educational allowances as determined by the CEO on a per request basis.  Maximum allowance will not exceed $xx per calendar year.
