As part of the drive to continually improve in product quality and service excellence Ligman Lighting USA is looking for a laboratory technician to head up our ETL Approved Satellite Laboratory.
This state of the art laboratory is equipped with the latest test equipment necessary to properly test luminaires for compliance to the required standards for use in the USA and Canada.
The successful candidate will need to have technical skills in Outdoor Lighting and must be familiar with the technical requirements and attributes of products that fall into the following categories.
Under water Luminaires, Post Tops, Bollards, Inground , Floodlights, Wall Mount and Ceiling Mounted Luminaires.
The Position requires knowledge of UL1598 and the required test procedures for product conformance to not only UL1598 but also UL1938 and UL 8750.
Additional skills and knowledge covering recording and archiving of test procedures, results and reporting of these tests using computer interfaces will be a requirement.
The Job Portfolio includes product production inspections and communication with the factory manager and senior management ensuring that all the product is compliant to the required standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and test outdoor lighting products for Compliance to UL1598 and other standards relevant to outdoor lighting products.
- Record test results and document procedures and results carried out during these tests
- Evaluate product conformance and make recommendations to engineering on how to improve product performance within the boundaries as specified by UL.
- Monitor and assist product quality by working with production staff providing technical advice on product assembly processes
- Assist in technical design and component selection for outdoor lighting products
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in lighting design and engineering .
- 4-year higher education degree
- Experience in the lighting industry manufacturing field
- Knowledge of UL, ETL, test requirements
- MS Office proficient.
