U.K.'s LUX Live is a Winner!

LUX Live Can I help.jpgWe are attending LOVE LUX Live this week in the U.K. and we love this show.

There are the little things that may go unnoticed but are important:

  • Double sided name tags so you can always and clearly see who you are speaking with. It’s embarrassing when you ask someone to turn over their name tag because you forgot their name.
  • You can take the rail directly to the show. No taxi’s, no taxi lines, and no Uber are needed.
  • Free wireless throughout the event.
  • Different areans and clinics are live on the show room floor. These open air forums bring a certain electricity to the show and most have been packed.

One major benefit is that it is free to attendees. Free is good. We are told that attendance is up about 15% over 2013 and since the show has moved from Earl’s Court to ExCel there is significantly more booth space.

What we learned:

  • Bianca van der Zande of Philips presented  fascinating data showing a 13% to 19% increase in reading speed under appropriate lighting in secondary schools.

  • CoeLux (above) has a system that mimics sunshine and it is the closest thing to the real sun that I have ever seen.  If you work in a windowless environment, or in Seattle, you will want this system.  Look at the intensity and shadow. This is definitely a contender for the EdisonReport 2014 Top 10 LightTrades awards.
  • Our friends at LED Roadway displayed a revolutionary future proof roadway system. The board actually snaps into the fixture, as does the driver.
  • We met with Andy Huang of  IR-TEC. This was their first time exhibiting at LUX live.   Andrew said, “We came to test the waters at this show and we find it very promising.”   See the video link below for a clever demonstration of IR-TEC integrated controls.

LUX Live is a very good show and the pace is quite manageable.
