Key Tradeshow Submittal Deadlines

This week, we have received several action reminders for key trade shows and awards:

  • The 2015 Next Generation Luminaires™ Indoor and Outdoor Competitions are underway! Written Intents to Submit are due on January 9, 2015, and both judging events will take place in March 2015.  NEW FOR 2015: Concurrent competitions, with both Indoor and Outdoor winners announced at LIGHTFAIR 2015! In order to maximize NGL’s value to specifiers and manufacturers, the number of categories has been reduced and a more in-depth approach taken. In 2015, both competitions will focus on controllability and serviceability, and will incorporate significantly more stringent efficacy requirements and more authentic installations. But as always, a product’s overall specifiability will remain central to its recognition by the judges, with the bar set high on a wide range of performance parameters.  Click here for details.
  • The 2014 GE Edison Award competition, sponsored by GE Lighting, is open to those lighting professionals who creatively employ significant use of GE Lighting Products, including, but not limited to, GE LED systems, LED luminaires, LED architectural products, LED lamps and modules, lighting controls and non-LED lamps and luminaires in a lighting design project completed between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2014.  Applications are due 19 JAN 2015. Click here for the submission application.
  • Submissions are now being accepted for the Illuminating Engineering Society’s New York City Section’s (IESNYC) 47th Annual Lumen Awards now through February 14, 2015.  The Lumen Awards recognize excellence in lighting design in various typologies.  Any New York City designer may enter. For more information, click here.
  • LIGHTFAIR:  Freeman sent out an announcement for a webinar on 13 JAN. This is the first year back at New York’s Javits Center, so this webinar will likely be very informative.  Click here for details.
  • LEDucation 9 is one of our favorite annual events and it is scheduled for 5/6 MAR in New York City.  We have a source on the committee and have learned that that LEDucation 9 will feature the following A-list of speakers:
    • Brooke Carter-Silber, Jan & Brooke Luminae
    • Jim Benya, Benya Burnett Consultancy
    • Paul Gregory, Focus Lighting
    • Lee Brandt, HLB Lighting Design
    • Ann Schiffers, USA Illuminations
    • Peter Ngai, VP OLED Lighting, Acuity Brands
    • Nelson Jenkins, LumenArch

As we see with many shows there is a scam company soliciting hotel reservations for LEDucation9.  EXHIBITION HOUSING SERVICES FALSELY CONTACTING EXHIBITORS?   WARNING – DO NOT MAKE ANY RESERVATIONS WITH A COMPANY CALLING EXHIBITORS TRYING TO BOOK ROOMS.  THEY ARE CALLED – EXHIBITION HOUSING SERVICES AND ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH THIS EVENT IN ANYWAY.  The official hotel for LEDucation is the Sheraton NY Times Square and the LEDucation rate can only be secured by using the Shearton – LEDucation reservation link.
