Samsung Now Provides Worldwide Certification Support to LED Lighting Component Customers

SEOUL, Korea – June 29, 2015 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced component solutions, has signed an agreement with the China Certification & Inspection Group Korea (CCIC KOREA) to provide certification support for its LED lighting packages and engines customers in China.

Since January, Samsung has established cooperative relationships with certification companies such as Intertek, Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) and TÜV SÜD for the US, Korean and Europe markets respectively. These partnerships will help to eliminate difficulties that customers could encounter with varying regional certification requirements for lighting quality, safety and power efficiency as well as complex procedures, high costs and lengthy times-to-market.

“Through our new agreement with the CCIC, together with these other partnerships, we are pleased that many of our customers will be able to gain significant value and technical support that will enable them to achieve greater success,” said Sung-Kwan Lim, Vice President of LED Quality Team, Samsung Electronics. “Beginning next year, we will expand our certification support program to intelligent LED lighting systems including Smart Lighting Platform which was demonstrated at LIGHTFAIR International 2015.”

CCIC provides comprehensive certification approval services from testing, certification to evaluation. China Compulsory Certification (CCC) mark, a mandatory safety mark for many products in the Chinese market, is issued by an entity under CCIC called China Quality Certification Centre (CQC).

Many customers of the Samsung LED Business in Korea and the U.S. have already begun to benefit from this global partnership with an estimated 30-50 percent savings in certification costs, as well as qualifying and processing times.
