Proof of Concept Engineers are responsible for completing designs and delivering them to Sustaining Engineering. The Proof of Concept team is one of three working in a cascade design process beginning with Research & Development followed by Proof of Concept and Sustaining Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Create drawings for production release, ensure designs pass all requirements
- Develop drawings and specifications sheets
- Log requests using Portfolio Project Management System
- Design and develop complimentary fixtures for existing product lines
- Modify existing products per customer requirements or based on continuous improvement
- Partner with the Testing and Compliance to develop product samples
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Mechanical Engineering, preferred
- 2+ years practical experience, preferred
- Proficient using 3D CAD solid modeling software; SolidWorks and/or Inventor, preferred
- Familiarity with UL 1598 lighting standards
- Knowledge of basic lighting; lamp operation, ballast operation, ballast circuits, related component and accessories
- Working knowledge of photometric reports and layouts
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication as well as polycarbonate, acrylic and aluminum
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including injection molding, die-casting, extrusion and thermoforming
- Able to design/build prototypes
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Resourceful, highly organized while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional in appearance and attitude and able to work with customers, vendors and colleagues on all levels
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Highly dependable and self-motivated and directed
- Flexible, able to work within a team environment; managing multiple projects and tasks at the same time
