McGee Company Brings Green Lighting To Heavy Industry

Across Southern California, LED lighting has made major inroads with residential and commercial customers, but Santa Fe Springs-based McGee Company, is bringing the same green lighting technology to heavy industry.

Southern California is home to the largest manufacturing center in the United States, with more than 500,000 residents employed in industrial agriculture, manufacturing, aerospace, and petroleum.  The area is also home to the nation’s largest port by value of goods and tonnage handled, the Port of Los Angeles.

McGee has partnered with Luma of Santa Clara, California, to market their industrial LED brand, Resilient, across Southern California.  Resilient Tough Lights make use of the same energy saving characteristics of LED, but are packaged in industrial-grade fixtures for the demanding work conditions of heavy industry, ports and manufacturing.

Mark Schlueter, president and co-owner of McGee Company, knows the ins and outs of the Southern California electric industry.  He got his start in 1982, and worked his way to the top of McGee in 2006.  “I’m confident that Resilient will have a big impact on energy consumption in Southern California,” he said.  “While industrial customers use only 17% of all electricity in the region, because of their tough requirements, they’ve been the last to benefit from many new green lighting technologies already in use in homes and offices.  We’re hoping to drive those numbers even lower.”

Randy Reid, Vice President of Sales at Resilient, commented, “As we launch our products into Southern California, we are very excited to have McGee Co represent our Resilient line of tough luminaries.  They are one of the premier reps in the country.”
