It was just a few years ago that one could call the IES Headquarters in New York and listen to the automated attendant, which actually said, “if you have a touchtone phone, please press 1…”
Under the leadership of Tim Licitra, Executive Vice President, those ancient practices are being replaced. Today, we see online balloting that is user-friendly. We say that because we did not have to log-in, or even enter our password, as the ballot software apparently utilizes cookies–and that is a good thing. For the heck of it, your humble editor tried to vote for the Midwest Regional Director and that vote was rejected, as it should have been since I am not in that region.
It is great to see these small, but highly visible, improvements. The Society is working hard on other improvements such as a radically improved website which will utilize best practices for society management, including tracking of payments, events, awards–even CEU credits. We expect this new site to be launched very soon.
