With $311M in Revenue, Silver Spring Networks is sold for $830M

Editor’s Note:  EdisonReport reported on 11 SEP that Acuity Brands chose Silver Spring Networks as a channel partner.  Now that that Silver Spring has been acquired, it will be interesting to see if both companies continue to work together, especially given the fact that Acuity has a similar service available with their own ROAM products.  Your humble editor is reminded of the GE Lighting-Bytelight channel partnership that we reported on in 2014. EdisonReport even listed GE’s Lighting’s Bytelight technology in our Top 10 MUST SEE products of LIGHTFAIR.  The following year, Acuity Brands acquired Bytelight and the GE Bytelight deal was no longer.

Itron, which focuses on energy and water analytics and technology, said it will acquire Silver Spring Networks, an Internet of Things and smart city player, in a deal valued at $830 million.

The combined companies are expected to target smart city deployments as well as smart grid technology.
