MaxLite Continues National Partnership with Habitat for Humanity

ATLANTAOct. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — MaxLite announced today it will continue its long-standing partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The partnership began in 2013 when MaxLite donated $2.5 million and lighting products to help create sustainable and affordable housing solutions in the U.S.

“MaxLite is proud to support Habitat for Humanity’s work in our local communities, and around the world, in improving the lives of families in need of affordable housing,” said MaxLite President and CEO Yon Sung.  “We are thrilled to continue donating products that support Habitat’s home-building efforts, and to make quality, energy-efficient lighting affordable and accessible to all consumers through Habitat ReStores.”

MaxLite, manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting products, has supported Habitat by donating bulbs and lighting fixtures to be used in Habitat’s Home Builders Blitz projects and sold through Habitat for Humanity ReStore resale outlets. Habitat ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell goods at a fraction of the retail price, which helps fund Habitat construction projects in local communities. MaxLite works with state utility companies and their energy-saving rebate programs to provide additional discounts on lighting products for Habitat ReStores. Currently, MaxLite products are being sold at 220 Habitat ReStore resale outlets across the country.

“We are grateful to MaxLite for their continued contributions to Habitat ReStores,” said Lynda Smith, senior director of Corporate Relations for Habitat for Humanity International. “These donations help expand our work with homeowners and provide energy-efficient products for ReStore shoppers.”

As part of the company’s partnership with Habitat, MaxLite employees have volunteered their time and skills at team builds around the country and helped construct or improve affordable homes in partnership with Habitat homeowners. MaxLite products, which include LED and CFL light bulbs, are designed to help homeowners save money on electricity costs and to change their light bulbs less frequently. These bulbs, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, use 80 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and have a lifetime of 25,000-50,000 hours.
