LumEfficient Launches LiFi in Europe

LumEfficient's LiFi

March 22, 2018—Frankfurt—At Light + Building, the largest lighting tradeshow in the world, LumEfficient again demonstrated their LumEfficient LiFi by Lucibel down light featuring a new type of wireless Internet. LiFi enables users to surf the Internet significantly faster than standard WiFi and the connection is substantially more secure.

Li-Fi is a high-speed wireless technology similar to WiFi, but uses light waves instead of vulnerable radio waves to transmit data. LumEfficient’s LiFi technology enables the deployment of a full wireless network through a bidirectional line rate up to 42 Mbps, offering high-speed mobile connectivity within a network while supporting multiple access points.

Randy Reid, President of LumEfficient, said, “We were excited to be the first company to introduce LiFi at a major U.S. lighting exhibition in the U.S, last week, and we are excited to be the first U.S. Lighting company to publicly demonstrate LiFi for a European audience.

In addition to speed, LiFi ads a significant layer of security as compared to vulnerable WiFi. At the fair, Reid temporarily covered the light source, and the laptop immediately lost its Internet connection. When he removed the cover, the laptop was again connected.

LumEfficient plans to demonstrate Li-Fi at the upcoming LIGHTFAIR in Chicago, May 8-10 at McCormick place, booth 438.

About LumEfficient:

LumEfficient, located in Nashville, began their business in 2010 selling LUXIM’s Light Emitting Plasma (LEP.)  As LED technology continued to improve in efficiency and reliability, LumEfficient gradually began replacing their entire LUXIM brand of LEP luminaires with the Resilient brand of LED luminaires.   Although LumEfficient products are designed for heavy industrial use, most are sold in the general lighting market because of their competitive price points.   LumEfficient has luminaires installed throughout the U.S, as well as India, Russia, Thailand, Germany and the UK.
