It’s not too late to join us at the 2019 Street and Area Lighting Conference in San Diego, California!
The IES Street & Area Lighting Conference is the only conference of its kind dedicated to improving the outdoor lighting business of electric utilities and energy service companies. We continue to provide an open forum for end-users facing the same questions regarding relevant products for specific application, lighting controls, benchmarks from other users in the lighting community, and milestones reached by municipalities, utilities and DOT’s.
We strive to maintain a small community feel, creating a great opportunity to network with industry peers through seminars with speaker Q+A, breakout sessions to discuss issues in-depth, an exhibit hall and many networking events with speakers and peers in a comfortable and open atmosphere.
WHY ATTEND SALC?Our attendee base, over 900 and growing, includes managers, technical and marketing specialists, lighting consultants and engineers from electric utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, energy service companies and manufacturers. These outdoor lighting professionals come from across the country and the industry. All are vitally interested in learning about products and services and include decision-makers from investor-owned regulated electric utilities, unregulated marketing affiliates, cooperatives, municipal utilities and independent contractors and consultants.

SOCIAL EVENTS | Annual Charity Golf Tournament
An annual charity golf tournament occurs during SALC. All proceeds from SALC Charity Golf events are used for the express purpose of providing scholarships to attend SALC. In 2018 we sponsored four emerging professionals to attend the conference, grow their knowledge in Street & Area Lighting, and network with Lighting professionals worldwide.
Our dedicated organizers chose a suitable course that is local to the conference venue, and run a tournament there that is sponsored by our exhibiting vendors. This year we are holding the event at the world-famous Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, CA, home of the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open, Junior Worlds, and the 2021 United States Open Championship.
Additionally, we are proud to inform you that SALC Charity Golf, Inc., has been granted 501(c)3 status by the IRS. Tax ID information available on request.
SOCIAL EVENTS | Ladies In Lighting
Ladies in Lighting is a networking event for all women attending The Street and Area Lighting Conference (SALC), female partners of attendees are welcome as well. This event is held on Sunday before SALC starts so women can meet new friends, connect with old ones and just relax and have fun. If this is your first SALC or your fifteenth, please join us. The mission of Ladies in Lighting is to support and connect women in our industry and make SALC a better conference for everyone.
The event is about 90 minutes. We provide one alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage but there is a cash bar for extra drinks. Once the event ends we generally walk all the participants to the SALC Welcome Event.
No reservations are required, and we don’t have a dress code.
SOCIAL EVENTS | Casino Night
Conference attendees are invited to participate in a mock casino during the conference. The annual SALC exhibitor-sponsored “Casino Night” event will be held on Tuesday, September 24th from 8:00-11:00 pm at the Sheraton San Diego, as part of the conference.
This is a fun night that really sets the SALC apart from other events in the industry. Past attendees have really enjoyed this event and we always get high praise on this unique feature of this conference and it is a great opportunity to network with your peers in the industry. Attendees play casino games and the casino winnings are exchanged for raffle prize tickets. Attendees place their raffle ticket in a drum where and winning tickets are drawn at the end of the night, usually to the cheers of the crowd.
Prizes for the raffle have run the full range from home electronics, cameras, iPods, iPads, sports collectibles, art, travel getaways, and company promotional items.
