The DLC has issued the SSL V5.1 draft update to the Surveillance Testing Policy. Key changes in this version of the draft are:
- Section C. Invoice and Procurement
The DLC is proposing to extend the invoice payment period in response to stakeholder feedback. The draft also clarifies the expectations and options for procurement, including how to address procurement of long lead time items. - Section D. Product Testing and Evaluation
The DLC has removed the requirement for testing linear replacement lamps in a reference housing. Consistent with V5.1, only the bare lamp test will be used to evaluate lamps selected for surveillance testing.
Tolerances and metrics in Table 1 and Table 2 have been updated to reflect the V5.1 Technical Requirements.
The objective of the DLC Surveillance Testing Program is to actively monitor the validity of data and other information submitted to the DLC Solid-State Lighting QPL (SSL QPL) to protect the integrity and value of the QPL for all stakeholders. The policy outlines the process for selection of products from the QPL for surveillance testing and for verifying the safety certification documentation. The DLC may seek to implement additional efforts toward these objectives in future policy development cycles.
The DLC is seeking comments and feedback about this new draft update, with comments being due on Friday, August 27, 2021. The proposed effective date of the new policy is October 1, 2021. Those interested in submitting a comment can fill out the V5.1 Surveillance Comment Form to [email protected]. Additional files can be downloaded to view down below.
