Healthe is Not Healthy

In fact, they filed bankruptcy.  We heard that Healthe (formerly Lighting Science) closed their doors on 10 DEC and we have been trying to contact them since.

We reached out to founder Fred Maxik twice and did not hear back. We have tried calling their offices Orlando Florida several times only to reach an automated attendant.  On two occasions, it rolled over to a voice mail message from Robert Martynowski. His Linked In profile says he is the Head of Operations.  Other extensions simply disconnect the call. Gerard Meyer became CEO in June of 2021 and he posted on 17 DEC that he is now the CEO of AeroPress. His Linked In account makes no mention of his time at Healthe.

Today we received  this Chapter 7 bankruptcy document filed on 10 DEC. A chapter 7 bankruptcy case does not involve the filing of a plan of repayment as in chapter 13. Instead, the bankruptcy trustee gathers and sells the debtor’s nonexempt assets and uses the proceeds of such assets to pay holders of claims (creditors) in accordance with the provisions of the Bankruptcy Code.

The company has struggled for over a decade and it has been a slow painful death with many strong people scattered along the way. The demise started over a decade ago with the untimely death of their star CEO, Zach Gibler who died in a bicycle accident.
