L+B Visits with Nichia, Wago, LND, eldoLED, and AEC Illumination

Your humble editor did not schedule any interviews on the last day of  L+B, which allowed me some time to walk the show.  Here is what I learned:

  • Nichia had great interactive displays. The Dynasolis™ is a new LED tuning solution that regulates circadian rhythms by simultaneously adjusting melanopic illuminance and color temperature while maintaining high CRI and high efficacy. Most existing HCL systems work by changing CCT, the visual element.  However, Nichia also focuses on the non-visual element that truly addresses human circadian rhythms. Dynasolis achieves this effect by offering both color and spectrum tuning.  By combining two separate LED spectra, building markets such as healthcare, education and office  have a solution that provides independent control of this critical functionality, allowing biologically effective light to enhance mood and wellbeing on a sustainable level.I was able to see Nichia’s H6 Series in person. The H6 delivers the industry’s highest joint-boost in color quality and efficacy. By combining the company’s accumulated phosphor technology with KSF narrow-band red phosphor and TriGain® Technology, Nichia has optimized the light spectrum and overcome the trade-off between efficacy and CRI. The portfolio extends from mid-power to chip-on-board (COB) products, presenting ideal solutions for applications that include retail, hospitality, and offices.
  • The theme of Wago’s exhibit was “Because green is smart,” and the stand was similar to what one would see in 2018. It just kept going and going, and going. They displayed an interactive sustainability path, featuring projects and solutions to help shape the areas of buildings, light and energy for a sustainable tomorrow.

  • Probably my favorite stand was LND. They designed a play on nature with trees featuring lights wrapped with wire that gave the appearance of bird’s nests.  I saw this late in the day and was very hyped up on caffeine and it had an immediate calming effect.  Although I didn’t check my watch, I bet my heart rated dropped a few points during my time at LND.
  • Patrick van der Meulen at eldoLED said he was pleasantly surprised by the number of attendees and the quality of attendee at the show. EldoLED exhibited with one of their distributors in Hall 8.
AEC had a very busy booth at Light + Building 2022

  • AEC Illumination had the largest booth in Hall 4 and it was close to my studio, so I walked by several times each day and it was packed. AEC displayed Italo 1, 2 and 3 fixtures that were redeveloped with a NEW optical system and 20 % gain in performance.  AEC added a Zhaga connector at the bottom of the fixture and made it more contractor friendly by changing the way the fixture is accessed.  AEC showed several designs where the focus was optical comfort and performance improvement. I attended a great party there on Tuesday!

There is something that needs to be said about the many shortcomings of the shows management and I’ll have that story on Monday.
