The primary responsibility of this position will be to generate sales of Universal Douglas’ Core Ballast, Driver, and LED products through direct contact with Agents and Distributors.  Additional responsibilities may include developing and passing projects leads to the Regional Sales Director.  This position will cultivate commercial opportunities, re-engage with inactive distributors, manage sample requests, support US customer service, and manage agent and distribution points of contacts as well as occasional end user lead generation. Sales targets, assignments, and KPIs for this position will be established by the VP of Project Sales.


  • (80%): Inside Sales of Universal Douglas Core and Lighting products:
    • (Distributors): Contact (email and phone) inactive distributors to re-engage with them to place an order, and then provide support to Customer Service to keep their business
      • Work with the Regional Director of Sales to identify the inactive distributor targets
      • Provide on-site product demonstrations as necessary/requested
    • (Agents): Engage existing Universal Douglas Agents to increase sales of Core and lighting products
      • Keep agents informed of product availability, updates, pricing and Distributor and Contractor opportunities
      • Provide on-site product demonstrations as necessary/requested
  • (10%): End User and Project lead generation
    • Solicit opportunities for Universal Douglas products to be used in Agent, and Distributor and Contractor projects
    • Communicate the proper use cases for all Universal Douglas products to potential customers to develop project leads and opportunities
    • Pass qualified opportunities to the appropriate Regional Sales Director
  • (10%): Customer Service Assistance:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for Agents and Distributors to assist in resolving customer service issues
  • Additional projects and responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs and sales progression


The successful candidate should have professional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven record of successful performance, and the ability to exceed monthly quota objectives through outbound sales activities.

  • Self-starter who can work autonomously and as part of a team in fast-paced environment
  • Naturally inclined toward solution selling techniques
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple customers and projects is a must
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with team members and Supervisor
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, result-oriented environment is a must
  • Ability to use programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, WebEx, and SharePoint) at an intermediate level a plus
  • Previous Oracle and/or Oasis experience a plus
  • Experience with lead generation marketing tactics a plus
  • Experience with Sales CRM systems a plus


The successful candidate should have 3+ years of inside sales experience in the lighting industry

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing or a related field of study is desirable
  • Lighting industry experience in the Specifications and Distribution sales channels is highly desirable


  • Location: Eastern United States
    • Major city preferred
  • Travel may be required as necessary to do product demonstrations and new product launch activities. Estimated at 25% on average
