Your humble editor attended the IES Board of Directors meeting on Monday, 22 MAY. As one of the four quarterly meetings, the LightFair meeting typically has a lighter agenda due to members being preoccupied with show preparations. This meeting was no different, with only a few items on the agenda. However, the report from Treasurer Ira Rothmah caught my attention, and Chief Financial Officer Olga Loukina was present to address any specific questions. Ira emphasized his understanding of the Society’s financial challenges.
Towards the end of the meeting, outgoing President Frank Agraz passed on the IES Presidential pin and gavel to incoming President Billy Tubb. I had the opportunity to speak with Billy at the 8th Annual Lifetime Achievement Awards, and he expressed a clear awareness of the Society’s financial situation. Making it his top priority during his presidency, Billy aims to rectify the financial challenges faced by the organization.
