Garrison, NY – The Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education, a cornerstone of lighting education support in North America, offers new funding opportunities for educators and students.
Since its inception, the Nuckolls Fund has awarded an impressive $2,000,500 to advance lighting education across North America. Grant proposals for 2025 are due on January 7, 2025, and detailed submission requirements can be found on the Fund’s Grants & Awards page.
The Nuckolls Fund annually offers funding through three primary grants. In addition to the grants, four student awards are presented each year to recognize outstanding achievement in lighting studies. Students are nominated by their respective faculty.
Available Grants for 2025
The Nuckolls Fund Grant
- Amount: $30,000
- Details: Awarded annually since 1989 to programs with an existing lighting course, regardless of the academic program or institution, this grant supports the development and delivery of innovative new or expanded courses in lighting at the college level. Requests for Proposal (RFP).
The Lesley Wheel Introductory Lighting Program Grant
- Amount: $30,000 (distributed over 4 years)
- Details: Designed for architecture, engineering, technology, and interior design programs with minimal or no lighting design offerings, this grant helps institutions incorporate lighting education into their curricula. Requests for Proposal (RFP).
The Edison Price Fellowship Grant
- Amount: $20,000
- Details: This fellowship enables lighting educators the opportunity to enhance their own education by spending significant time within the lighting industry. Educators may collaborate with manufacturing or design firms or work alongside established professors at thriving university lighting programs. Requests for Proposal (RFP).
Create Your Own Grant
- Amount: Flexible
- Details: The Nuckolls Fund invites innovative ideas that further quality lighting education. Proposals must include an actionable implementation plan and align with the submission guidelines outlined in the RFPs. Requests for Proposal (RFP).
Eligibility and Submission
