NEMA Academy Launches May 1 with Expanded Learning Opportunities

A major upgrade is coming to lighting and electrical education. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has announced the launch of its new NEMA Academy, a modernized learning management system designed to deliver comprehensive, on-demand training across lighting controls, general lighting, and broader electrical fields. The new platform officially goes live on May 1, 2025.

The transition marks the end of Education Express, NEMA’s longtime educational resource for the lighting industry. On April 15, Education Express will go offline, and all registered users will be migrated to the new NEMA Academy platform. According to NEMA, users can expect a smoother, more intuitive learning experience, complete with new features and a significantly expanded course catalog.

The upgraded platform is part of NEMA’s broader push to support education and workforce development across the electrical and lighting sectors. NEMA Academy will cater not just to lighting professionals but also to those involved in building systems, energy management, and smart technologies—fields where lighting and electrical systems increasingly overlap.

Longtime lighting industry educator Craig DiLouie emphasized the importance of this move, noting that NEMA Academy will allow users to access training that keeps pace with rapidly evolving technologies and codes. With enhanced content delivery, improved tracking, and a streamlined user interface, the NEMA Academy aims to serve both individual learners and corporate training initiatives.
