This position will be responsible for overseeing multiple brand’s existing product lines and new products for the business unit. This includes leading new product projects from existing ideas, helping to develop new ideas based on experience and interaction with customers, and find innovative solutions for the broader market, and other day to day responsibilities. The Product Platform Manager will assure all product development fits within the business unit’s strategy. They will also be required to coordinate, maintain, and assure accuracy of action topics are completed on time and within budget.
Job Responsibilities
• Work closely with Product Managers across business unit to develop cohesive product strategies and to ensure accurate PAC / Gate requirements
• Direct project teams in the development or sustaining process to execute projects and assignments
• Create and own all details relative to assigned projects in a standard project management spreadsheet or tool utilized by the department
• Assure team leadership as it relates to the multiple open projects and details necessary to provide a clear update on open, closed or completed actions
• Be an active leader and facilitator of core team meetings and conference calls as required based on projects
• Shall be fully knowledgeable of assigned product group and act in an advisory capacity regarding product information to Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Marketing Communications, Customer Service, Tech Line, and the sales organization
• Capable of navigating complex mainframe computer systems to quickly become proficient in Leviton’s Legacy and Oracle systems
• Attend sales meetings and visit customers and end-users as required; conducting product training presentations and research
• Prepare weekly/monthly updates to Director and other business leaders as required by projects
• Be able to complete various product marketing tasks as assigned by Director
Education
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or business field is preferred
Experience
• 4 to 6 years’ product/project management experience
• Experience leading teams and project
• Strong experience using Excel and Project Management Software Tools
• Experience in the lighting and/or technology industry is required
• Experience with product line management throughout the entire life cycle
• Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Experience presenting to groups of managers, employees, and the general public
Skills
• Excellent understanding of segmentation, vertical markets, and the development of a marketing communication plan
• Must apply critical thinking skills to determine best approach to bring new products to market and to work with engineering, operations and marketing and sales staff
• Ability to leverage analytics and quantitative methods to inform and influence decision-making
• Ability to analyze P&L statements and reports and make decisions to improve performance
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
• Must have excellent time management skills
• Must be resourceful in reaching deadlines and quickly identify and communicate obstacles
• Must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality
• Ability to work in a highly confidential work environment; and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
