The setup for the 71st NALMCO Annual Convention at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate ran smoothly. The Board of Directors gathered for a strategic meeting led by industry veteran Mark Lien, focusing on NALMCO’s future initiatives. Keystone Technologies hosted a lively welcome reception, where a Torcedor hand-rolled cigars, a highlight among attendees.

NALMCO Annual Convention 2024 Program Content

This year’s NALMCO Annual Convention promises an engaging program. On Monday, bestselling author Mark Jewell will cover virtual selling techniques, emphasizing the use of platforms like Zoom and LinkedIn to drive sales and communicate lighting benefits. In a world that leans heavily on digital communication, his insights are invaluable for professionals looking to enhance their virtual presence.

On Tuesday, Kyle McClelland, President of Have Lights Will Travel, will lead a session on goal setting and strategic planning. He’ll share ways to align teams, stay focused, and set achievable goals, preparing lighting professionals to meet their targets effectively. Additionally, Mark Lien will discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence in lighting. His talk will address both AI’s potential to revolutionize lighting management and its ethical challenges, like data privacy and misinformation.

The scene at the resort was unique. With Hurricane Ian still affecting nearby areas, the bar filled with linemen, fresh from restoration work, sharing drinks and stories. Evacuees from Tampa added to the bustling atmosphere, providing a blend of resilience and camaraderie. There were many damaged signs along Interstate 4.   Adding a bit of local flavor, my morning run featured the surprising sound of roosters crowing—an unexpected twist that made me smile.

I am not sure if the rooster lives in Championsgate or if he flew in with the Hurricane.
