DANVERS, Mass., Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — OSRAM, one of the two globally leading light manufacturers today announced the appointment of Jes Munk Hansen effective Oct. 16, 2013 as CEO of OSRAM Americas and President and CEO of OSRAM SYLVANIA. He succeeds Rick Leaman, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests. In his role as chief executive, Hansen will be responsible for the OSRAM business in North, Middle and South America.

His appointment will further strengthen our leadership position at a time where new regulatory standards and new technologies are redefining our industry.” Given the accelerated transformation to the lighting market, Hansen’s primary task is to further enhance the business transition to energy efficient LED based lighting products and solutions.

Over the past 13 years Hansen held various leadership positions at Grundfos, serving as CEO and President of Grundfos North America for the last six years. During this time the North America business grew substantially, both through organic growth as well as through the acquisition of key local players. Throughout his career Hansen has focused on product innovations related to sustainable and energy efficient building materials and process equipment. He holds an MBA from London Business School and a Master of Science in Forestry from the University of Copenhagen.
