Job Description:

For the Flextronics LED Lighting Products business, the role will be responsible for the product management of existing and new products, increasing the profitability of existing products, the creation of requirements for specific new products, and formulating product roadmaps. The role will manage the entire product lifecycle working collaboratively with other groups in the segment and across Flextronics, interfacing externally with the sales team and customers on a routine basis to understand business/product requirements, interfacing internally with product development to drive the creation of new products and technologies, and then interfacing with the sales team to drive the launch of new products. This role is responsible to ensure we have product plans in place that enable our Lighting product and EMS services provide the right product or service in the market are the right price and profit margin to achieve our market share and profitability objectives.

Principle Accountabilities:

• Manage the entire product lifecycle from strategic planning activities to tactical execution.

• Interface with customers, suppliers, and other industry sources to understand and specify product requirements for each target market segment.

• Perform competitive analysis on competing products.

• Formulate product roadmaps, and drive alignment on the supporting technology roadmaps

• Develop Product Requirements Documents and financial targets for each specific product.

• Obtain management approval of the product plans, including all necessary financial budgets and sign-offs.

• Interface directly with Product Development to initiate and track development activities.

• Work across all functional areas to develop and implement the go-to-market strategy.

• Work to support the Energy Marketing team members to support the creation of sales support and collateral material, leveraging the broader marketing and communications teams within Flextronics as required.

• Lead cross-functional product team to ensure the lighting products are managed through a stage gated process throughout the product sell cycle.

• Monitor external customer acceptance and internal financial performance, driving corrective action where necessary.

• Formulate and implement product licensing relationships as necessary to fill product line gaps or satisfy entire category needs.

• As the business scales, attract, retain, and lead critical talent as the Product Management team scales.

• Support diligence on investments and M&A activities in Lighting. 

Scope: Impacts the long-term (annual) direction and financial or operational success of the function and/or site. Approves and/or creates functional processes or technologies. Establishes and ensures effective achievement of functional strategic plans and objectives for the site. May have P&L responsibility for the function. Develops plans for structuring and implementing major initiatives. 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Ability to work with internal teams and executive management as well as external customers to maximize mutual benefit.  Demonstrates mastery of functional knowledge in relation to other functions and a complete understanding of the function and those of related businesses. Demonstrated ability to successfully influence senior level management, executives and key clients.  Strong negotiation skills required. 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

 Requirements:

 

  • Education:  A Bachelor’s degree in technology based program – EE or ME preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of product management experience
  • Should have prior experience driving product growth within organizations including working with: product development, applications engineering, business development, and partnering within many other departments within an organization
  • Experience performing independent and creative market analysis
  • Strong financial background a plus
  • Should have at least 2 years of prior experience with and knowledge of LED lighting
  • Product Management related certifications a plus
  • Must be flexible in working through processes and have the creativity to tackle complex assignments and accomplish them independently

This position can be located in Plano, TX or San Jose, CA.
