Engineer, Lighting Designer- Industrial Lighting Products LLC

Industrial Lighting Products is seeking a qualified engineer to join their engineering team in central Florida.

This position provides support for the product development and manufacturing engineering functions within our company.  One primary focus of this position will be on providing photometric layouts of customer facilities.  The successful candidate will have experience with one or more software packages such as AGI32, Visual or Simply Lighting. This position can work on product development and testing of new LED fixture designs as well as in the creation and prove out of new reflector designs to provide the proper photometric results.  Creating and implementing manufacturing methods and teaching them to our assembly team are required.  Participation in continuous improvement projects as applicable is a key role in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works under the direction of the Director of Operations and Engineering Manager to achieve the goals of the department.
  • Assist in the development of new LED fixtures
  • Assist in building costing models for products.
  • Assist in building prototypes of new products and revisions of existing products.
  • Assist the sales team with lighting design and analysis.
  • Develop knowledge of optics, light distributions, and applications to be team leader for those product features.
  • Works with the sales group to obtain information and provide photometric layouts for customer facilities.
  • Designs fixture specific reflectors per customer requirements.
  • Use Solid Edge modeling software to produce prototype CAD models.
  • Produce and document work instructions for the assembly and wiring of ILP lighting fixtures.
  • Train assembly workers in the assembly of new products.
  • Works from written, pictorial or verbal instruction.
  • Conducts electrical and heat tests on new lighting products.
  • Interfaces with sales to understand new fixture requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Photometric software packages AGI32 or Visual Preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software, Solid Edge Preferred.
  • Experience with software for reflector design.
  • Needs to have training abilities
  • Must have problem resolving skills
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Adaptability
  • Moderate MS Office skills
  • Proficient with Solid edge

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BSEE, BSME, or equivalent experience.
  • Photometric training a plus
