We are seeking a architectural Lighting Designer who is highly motivated, task-oriented, and hardworking individual to join our design team. The candidate is a self-starter and displays initiative in a field they may or may not be familiar with. We are looking for a talented person with technical and creative design skills. The successful candidate has a strong familiarity with drawing production, specification writing, detailing, calculations, presentations, and renderings. Ability to demonstrate an innovative thought process and illustrate lighting design concepts is essential. The Candidate must be able to work with our outside sales representatives, auditors, engineers, and architects to gather information regarding lighting requirements, standards, & restrictions to formulate a plan which meets the needs of the customer & requirements of municipalities as applicable.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Learn and understand our product offering in order to recommend the appropriate product for the situation or how it can be integrated into other products for optimal effect
- Develop lighting scope of works, walk job sites, and negotiate contracts with installers
- Establish relationships with sales representatives and continually develop and train them in product usage and technical specifications
- Establish working relationships with distributors and continually update them on our product offerings
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of prior lighting experience.
- Understanding of the application of conventional lamps and fixtures in retail, commercial and industrial settings
- LED lighting knowledge is a must
- Competent with both lighting design and calculations. Knowledge of lighting control systems a plus
- Ability to read blueprints, lighting layouts & schedules, AutoCAD files, and photometrics
- Ability to specify appropriate lighting according to light level or photometric requirements
- Proficient computer skills & competent using Microsoft Office applications
- Effective written and verbal communications skills, professionalism, and team player qualities are required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 2013 and lighting calculation software such as AGI32 and/or Dialux are required
- Proficiency with Revit MEP 2014 a plus
