Product Line Manager–Califia Lighting

Job Description:

Bivar is seeking a Product Line Manager for its Califia Lighting Business Unit to further drive the company’s growth and product line direction. The Product Line Manager works to ensure that LED lighting requirements for industrial and commercial markets are clearly understood and provides hands-on leadership for Califia Lighting’s business unit activity and product development roadmap.

This position requires the ability to stay current of product, market technology and application trends in order to effectively support of the sales organization, assist with technology vendor expansion, and guide the design and development of LED lighting fixtures and systems in a lean manufacturing environment. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to interface with customers, analyze needs, facilitate project drawings and specifications, and develop appropriate LED lighting product and solution recommendations that drive sales for both new and existing customers.
  • Utilize software to create visual layouts and design.
  • Lead internal teams in the creation of project proposals for Califia Lighting products and solutions.
  • Manage special projects as requested by the General Manager.
  • Provide expert technical support to assist the end-user in making correct LED Lighting decisions that best fit their needs.
  • Specify and actively recommend new product requirements and lead development team through process to meet SBU new product introduction objectives.
  • Establish and maintain complete portfolio of competition, including product strategies, product line analysis, testing, and competitor product changes. Ensures effective competitive training of the sales organizations and engineering functions.
  • Drives customer focused culture throughout the Califia Lighting Business Unit.
  • Provides direction on engineering programs for Califia Lighting product initiatives to assure product line competitiveness, time to market, response to customer and sets priorities.
  • Travels to customers, Distributors, Reps, Suppliers as required.

Position Requirements: 

  • Four year degree from accredited college or university in Engineering, Business, or equivalent education, training, experience.
  • Five years’ experience in a growing technology environment including positions in one or more of the following; Lighting Product Management, Lighting or Electrical Sales, Product Development, and Manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership, influence, and team-building skills.
  • Good time management skills, be able to continually evaluate priorities, and make appropriate adjustments. Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities. Some financial acumen required.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate value propositions and present information to all levels of employees and customers. Ability to communicate instructions and present ideas, concepts, and solutions to all levels of management at the customer and within Bivar.
  • Interfaces and supports Marketing team for all Califia Lighting products collateral materials; including e-Commerce and print. Prepares and updates field product training material as required.       
  • Demonstrates independence, resourcefulness, and ability to self-motivate.
  • Able to create positive interpersonal and team relationships.
  • Travels to Customers, Sales Channel, and Suppliers as required.
  • Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Programs and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software.
