1:37 p.m. Received an anonymous tip that said, “Amy Huntington to be leaving Philips lighting”
1:46 p.m. Received a second tip from a trusted source: Amy Huntington out at Philips- internal announcement now.
2:08 p.m. Sent a message to Amy.
2:10 p.m. Received a txt on my cell: “Amy announcing resignation.”
2:15 p.m. Published the headline, “Major Change at Major Conglomerate Being Announced Now.”
2:30 p.m. Received a text on my cell from a Cree Rep: “Is it Cree?”
3:10 p.m. Amy answered the message asking me to give her a call.
3:11 p.m. We spoke and she confirmed her resignation, effective 31DEC. She explained that she was in the middle of calling key customers and agents and she asked me to hold the story until 3:00 pm, Tuesday, 5 DEC. Because Amy was the source who confirmed the story, we cheerfully agreed.
3:30 p.m. The calls and emails began pouring in. One very close source explained, “While Rondolat was unhappy with the results from North America, Amy clearly resigned on her own. This was her decision and her timing.”
4:14 p.m. We received the following from a Philips employee who explained that the below comments were shared with Philips Lighting employees from Eric Rondolat:
“Having established stability and continuity in Market Group Americas for Philips Lighting, Market Group Leader Americas Amy Huntington has decided to leave the company at the end of 2017. She will be returning to Chicago to pursue new opportunities outside of the lighting industry. Amy has made valuable contributions during her five years of dedication to Philips Lighting. Her leadership and her friendship will be truly missed.
Amy has established a strong foundation for the future growth of MG Americas. For the professional business in the U.S., Amy has successfully restored trust and confidence externally with key customers and stakeholders as well as internally.
Latin America has developed under her leadership to become a viable and significant revenue stream, and Canada has returned to growth with a renewed focus on profitability.
Thanks to the management structure she has set in place to drive business in the three distinct markets (Canada, US, Latin America), we are confident of a smooth transition.”
8:50 p.m. A source emailed: During her quarterly lighting Americas call, where she was joined by Eric, she confirmed that she is moving back to Chicago and will be pursuing opportunities which includes corporate boards.
