IES Progress Committee Recognizes Three Meteor Lighting Luminaires

INDUSTRY, California – September 9th, 2019. Meteor Lighting is proud to announce that 3 product submissions were recognized by the judges as a “Unique and Significant Advancement to the Art and Science of Lighting”. This is a tremendous honor and achievement for the company, maintaining its long tradition of creating award-winning products.

All 3 products were showcased at the 2019 IES Annual conference, where we saw a 33% decrease from new companies submitting products. In luminaires, there was a 45% drop compared to last year which indicates a maturing market but that advancements in Lighting are now primarily new features and not new breakthroughs, more on that here.

The drop in submitted products is also reflective of the increasingly stringent judging process, showing the goals of the IES to really set the bar high for industry standards. Where before was purely from a performance standpoint, the judging committee covers all bases of a luminaire from Power, Controls, Manufacturing Quality, and Application as evident from the involvement by ConEdison, Hubbell Lighting Controls, and The Lighting Practice in judging Meteor Lighting products.

JUDGES COMMENTS

Our Whiz 2.0 – Architectural High Ceiling luminaire impressed the judges with its performance capability with a lumen package of up to 35,400 lm, it’s uplight versatility and it’s natatorium rating option. This is 2 home runs already, having also won the LFI 2019 Innovation Award in May.

Both the Duo 4 and Duo 6 was also recognized by the committee for its sleek, functional design as well as superior performance. In the performance category, the Duo has a lumen package range higher than any other direct/indirect luminaires at 4 or 6-inch apertures. The use of our POWER LINE SYSTEM™ technology that is Power Cord-Free was also noted to be very unique. We also demonstrated the latest Tunable White Option to the judges.
