“I worked for Brian for 6 years at Philips Advance where he served as CEO. He was a man of great character, integrity, passion, and humility. He embraced change and challenged the status quo, while celebrating the proud history of his organization and the stewards of the business who led before him. He led the Advance business through a challenging period when the lighting industry was just finding its way into the digital era and LED was just beginning to challenge legacy technology. It was also a time when the very existence of the Advance brand was being challenged by Philips during their quest to homogenize all brands to One Philips. He was a big idea guy, always thinking, always challenging, and always willing to offer his opinions. Brian was a strong and effective leader. He made his team better because of it. Above all, Brian was a friend and a mentor to so many who knew him and he maintained those friendships long after he retired in 2008 through present day. Brian was also the rock within his family, a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed.”
