DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC SOURCING/PURCHASING
The Director, Strategic Sourcing/Purchasing will jointly create the future direction and overall strategy & implementation plan for the Sourcing/Purchasing department. The Director oversees and is responsible for all aspects of purchasing, sourcing and relationship maintenance with supply base.
Build supplier development and evaluation programs. Refine vendor managed programs and create inventory reduction plans. Assess supply base for fit to Kenall’s business model and customer satisfaction expectations. Conduct negotiations with suppliers. Build organization and team members through training, education, etc. Devise robust methods of component procurement. Aid in overseeing global logistics requirements and cost-effectively manage inventory. Stay abreast of SCM strategies and continually adjust organizational requirements with changing technical, supply, demand and required expertise. With team, develop and deploy new methods of parts stocking (i.e. consignment, enhanced VMP, supplier flooring/forecasting, JIT, etc.). With Quality Manager, develop quality expectations of sources and establish relevant measures/metrics. Work closely with Materials/Planning to establish cross-functional strategies for stocking levels and timely production execution. Work closely with product engineering for quoting and purchasing of new parts.
This position requires a BBA or similar (MBA preferred) and 10+ years of global purchasing experience (minimum 5 years in Strategic Purchasing/Supply Chain Management role). Position demands proven leadership and strong communication skills. Global travel on at least a quarterly basis will be required. Background in electronics component procurement and solid state lighting is preferred.
