It’s LIGHTFAIR Time!!!!

Since our founding in 1999 EdisonReport has asked the same question:  How can you be a leader in the lighting industry in North America and not attend LIGHTFAIR?

LIGHTFAIR Las Vegas 2010 had 23,000 visitors—a then-record for the Las Vegas event. We spoke to several IES people as well as LIGHTFAIR management looking for a projection for this year.  None would speak on the record.  All we have learned is that the registration numbers are trending well.

We did learn there is a bit of controversy regarding our old friend the Model Lighting Ordinance, which EdisonReport has been covering since the idea was first launched in 2001.   It appears that some of our International Dark Sky Association friends are taking it upon themselves to push states to adopt fully shielded fixtures.  Recall that the MLO will occasionally, in some circumstances, allow for a small bit of uplight.  One source told us that it is as if it is 2006 all over again and that IDA has abandoned MLO.   We’ll get more details this week.  Developing….

The forecast calls for an excellent show. In walking the floor today, we saw many exciting products.
