JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lighting Product Design Engineer is a key position on the Design and Development team at Solais Lighting.  Primary responsibilities will include the design, testing, prototyping and production of new products, product improvements, competitive analysis, etc.  If you are looking for a challenging, yet fun (yes – lighting can be fun!), environment in a small company where everyone has to “wear many hats” and “roll up their sleeves” to get things done, then this opportunity may be perfect for you.      

Duties:

  • Participate in Design Team priority setting and roadmap reviews
  • Completing draft, revision and final designs of 3D models in SolidWorks or Pro-E
  • Management of technical information database; including adding new products and revising current entries based on BOM changes
  • Reviewing supplier product information and determining fit for current and future products
  • Competitive Analyses, comparisons
  • Assembling, testing and troubleshooting prototypes
  • Analyzing field failures to determine the root cause for issue
  • Analyzing QC reports from manufacturing partners and present findings to management team

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Competencies:

  • BS or MS (or equivalent) with Lighting/Electrical Concentration or 3+ years Lighting experience
  • Strong skills in SolidWorks or Pro-E
  • Advanced understanding of molding processes
  • Bill of Materials management
  • Strong skills in Excel and MS Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills and ability to write clear and concise emails
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Able to multi-task and keep on top of multiple projects advancing at different rates
  • Understanding of electronics a plus
